From The Sea To The Land Beyond
The first production from Crossover and Sheffield Doc/Fest was Penny Woolcock’s From the Sea to the Land Beyond ; a documentary telling the story of the British coastline through BFI archive clips, with a score composed by British Sea Power.
The archive footage film premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest 2012 with a live performance from British Sea Power and was available to be viewed on ‘The Space’, an online venture using an on-demand digital arts service developed by the Arts Council and in partnership with the BBC.
The interactive elements of From the Sea to the Land Beyond enabled visitors to edit the 100’s of coastal clips in the BFI National Archive and the music from British Sea Power, to create a personalised video postcard from the piece of the UK coastline that was most dear to their heart to send and share with others.
In 2013 From the Sea to the Land Beyond was awarded ‘Best Use of Footage on Digital or Non Television Platforms’ at the FOCAL International Awards.
From the Sea to the Land Beyond and the soundtrack from British Sea Power are now both available to buy online.
