Friday 5th June – 9.30am to 5.00pm

Sheffield Hallam University – Cantor Building

This workshop is now full.

Sheffield Hallam University presents  in partnership with Crossover Labs and Sheffield Doc/Fest a collaborative workshop inviting Filmmakers and Designers with an interest in producing interactive documentary content to learn the basics of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

Hosted by the university, the workshop will take place over the full day, allowing participants to be introduced to the software before being given time to experiment with the creative possibilities within their own project concepts. The workshop aims to introduce the benefits of using the software to enhance creative projects, enabling filmmakers to consider investing in the package for use on future work.

Attendees will be provided with an insight into both Muse and Edge Animate, both of which will enable you to create highly interactive HTML animations for dynamic websites for desktop and mobile devices that meet the latest web standards without the need for complex coding.

The workshop is designed for Filmmakers and Designers who are thinking of developing an interactive documentary of their own and would like to try out software that allows you to have more creative freedom within the design and structure of the project.

The workshop is free to Sheffield Doc/Fest 2015 delegates or costs £25+VAT to non delegates.

To make the workshop as flexible as possible you can join the workshop on different levels of participation:

Full participation – working through the exercises presented and delivered within the workshop on your own, with tutor and student support

Part participation – working through the exercises with a partner, with tutor and student support

As an observer – not physically working through the exercise but using the workshop to find out more about Muse and Edge Animate to see their potential.

It is entirely up to participants to decide therefore what they want to get out of the workshop.

If you are wishing to work through the exercises you will need to bring your own laptop along and if you don’t already subscribe to Creative Cloud you will need to download the trial version before attending the workshop. The trial version is available for 30 days from the download and installation and will give you an opportunity to try out these programmes as well as the other programmes that come with Creative Cloud. Instructions on how to download the trial version will be sent out to all participants prior to the workshop.

A handout will also be available to all participants to aid them in working through the exercise and to take away as a referral guide.

The workshop will be lead by Anne Doncaster, Lecturer in Digital Media Production at Sheffield Hallam University. Anne specializes in Interactive Design and has worked on many interactive documentaries with the students at the university.
